The standard seminar will show the basics in setting up a company, using the navigator bar, working with lists, processing of accounts payable and receivable, generating reports, and basic tips. The advanced seminar covers advanced payroll processing, filtering and customizing reports for your specific purposes, use of classes and jobs, and how to correct errors. QuickBooks ® Training & Services Some common questions we receive concerning the use of QuickBooks ® : How do I set up QuickBooks ® in order to prepare payroll? Do I have to load this?QuickBooks ® comes with many modules that you can elect to use or not to use. Payroll is one of these modules. To turn on the full payroll features of QuickBooks ® , you need to set this up either through the easy interview checklist when you first set up your company or through the preferences. This is set up in the Preferences area of QuickBooks ®, located under the Edit menu in QuickBooks ® Pro2000, 2001 and 2002. Can I have QuickBooks ® track inventory on a FIFO basis?QuickBooks ® can maintain inventory on an item by item basis. However, it is not powerful enough to track the cost of inventory on the FIFO basis. QuickBooks ® tracks the cost of items purchased on an average cost basis. This is not always the basis a company uses and can present a limitation on reflecting an accurate value of your inventory. We can help you choose another general ledger software package which can serve your needs. Where do I put my beginning balances?The beginning balances you have when you set up your company can either be entered as you set up your chart of accounts in the box noted as opening balance or as a journal entry once your company is set up. When you use the opening balance box in the account set up window, QuickBooks ® will offset this with an entry to an equity account entitled Opening Balance Equity. I have a company that I purchase items from but also they in turn purchase services from my business. How can I set this company up as a vendor and a customer?You can have the same company set up as a vendor and a customer. The company will need to be added as a customer in the customer list and as a vendor in the vendor list. You will need to give them a unique name that QuickBooks ® uses to pull their info into the various windows of the program. Can I input payroll time in minutes and seconds?Yes. This is set up in the Preferences area of QuickBooks ® in the General area under Company preferences. You need to indicate how you wish to have the time format shown when entering payroll hours. Can I set up more than one user with access to different areas?QuickBooks ® does allow for multiple users. The administrator who has access to all areas of QuickBooks ® sets up users. Through the easy set-up window QuickBooks ® will prompt for specific areas and the access that you wish for a particular user to have.
